Activities and Local Area
We have lots to see and do in the local area, both here on site or
further afield.
The Woodland Hut on site has an abundance of information about
local wildlife: maybe you will see the Barn Owl swooping by or the
Badgers whose setts take up one edge of the wood.
Campers can sometimes help bottle feed calves on the farm or see
new chicks that have hatched.
The llamas Quentin and Herbert are usually grazing a meadow
near to the campsite and are very partial to the llama feed we sell in
the shop.
We provide maps of walks around the farm or further afield: Tiger
Hill Wood is close by, where you can follow the footpath through the
woods and paddle in the Assington Brook. Arger Fen Nature
Reserve provides longer walks, or perhaps you will want to visit
Chapel Barn and see the famous Bures Dragon.
The campsite is situated half way between the villages of Bures
and Assington. Assington has a pub, farm shop and cafe. Bures
holds a market on its ancient common once a month and hearty
meals are available at the Eight Bells pub. Bures village shop and
the Deli offer local produce and essential supplies.
There are beautiful cycle routes in the area, as long as you don’t
mind hills! The Dedham vale has 7 popular cycling routes to
download. https://www.dedhamvalestourvalley.org/visiting/visitor-
information/visitor-guides/cycle-guides/ We have several adult bikes
which, for a small deposit, campers are welcome to borrow.
